Temperament, Character Traits and Alexithymia in Patients with Asthma; A University Hospital Sample

Background: The relationship between psychological factors and asthma has received attention since very early times. However, there’s a lack of knowledge about the temperament character features patients. We aimed to assess if there are specific personality traits in patients.Methods: Thirty-eight patients with thirty-five healthy individuals were enrolled study. sociodemographic data form Temperament Character Inventory (TCI) Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS) applied all participants. Results: mean age was 40.9 ± 15.9 group (52.1%) 37.3 14.3 control (47.9%). There 29 females 9 males group, 19 16 group. In analysis subscales, scores harm avoidance, frugality, sentimentality transpersonal identification higher than group; differences statistically significant (p<0.05). no groups for alexithymia (p>0.05).Conclusions: Our study showed that groups. Further studies needed evaluate causes impacts on disease course.
